BASANT PANCHMI
This is a festival that is dedicated to Mother Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, learning and music, and normally takes place on the fifth day in the month of Magh, January/February.
On this day Mother Saraswati, donned in yellow to represent vibrancy of life, is worshipped by children seeking her blessings and guidance.
At the Krishna Mandir, Saraswati Mata puja is normally held for children writing SEA, CSEC and CAPE prior to the start of the examinations.
In 2012, through the guidance of Pundit Rudranath Maharaj, Saraswati Mata puja was organized on this particular Basant Panchmi and children of all ages as well as devotees of Mother Saraswati were invited to attend and participate.
The response was magnanimous and the mandir was filled with over 100 children and devotees. Due to this response it was decided that puja on this day would be held annually.
